LAKSHYA 2011

Lakshya, a unique endeavour of NITIE, embodies the zeal, for industrial excellence. The persistent toil of PGDIE students for 12 years led to this plateau of knowledge sharing, industrial exposure and expertise. Lakshya specializes in creating an unforgettable bespoke corporate experience for the students as well as the corporate stalwarts. Lakshya in association with Volkswagen embarked upon a journey which was instigated 11 years ago by NITIE and it reinvented itself this year by introducing the premiere edition of Power Talks and by inviting CSR projects from corporates.

NITIE felicitated Lakshya Business Visionary to those icons of the industry who by their exemplary vision and extraordinary leadership have changed the course of the Indian economy. The nominations were suggested across industrial sectors and through an electronic poll across the country, the awardees were selected. The Lakshya Business Visionary awards were given to Shri Venu Srinivasan, Chairman and Managing Director, TVS Motor Company and Shri R C Bhargava, Chairman, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. And CEO, RCB Consulting. Looking at the economic scenario, entrepreneurship can help to accelerate economic growth and provide job opportunities. LAkshya awarded Shri Habil Khorakiwala, Founder and Chairman, Wockhardt Ltd. with NITIE Empresario - Most Inspiring Entrepreneur of the year 2011 and Shri Deepak Puri, Founder and Managing Director, Moser Baer, with NITIE Empresario-Best Start-up Entrepreneur of the Year 2011.

The On-the-job-Achievers contest is a unique attempt to provide a podium to enhance industry-institute as well as industry-industry interaction. It encompasses project presentations in 4 different modules, namely Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Systems & IT Management , and General & HR management. Each of these modules drew a number of highly competent participants from the industry for a set of presentations. Outstanding projects undertaken in organizations across diverse sectors of industry such as Manufacturing, FMCG, Banking, Consultancy, Automobiles, Pharmaceuticals etc. competed to win the Lakshya Best Project Award and this year saw Madura Fashion and Lifestyle winning the best project award under the Supply Chain Management module and General and HR module. Tata Motors won the Operations Module and JDA Software won the Systems and IT module.

Sparsha is a unique attempt to provide a podium to encourage the much needed benevolence and altruism in the society . The cardinal principle of the Sparsha is that students, NGO's and the corporate through their combined participation in social service, get a sense of involvement in the tasks of national development. Lakshya touches various sectors which are deprived of the basic amenities of life through Sparsha. The format aims to provide a platform to NGOs for presenting their projects, in front of the jury members which will hail from Industry as well as NGOs. Expanding the horizons of Sparsha, this year Lakshya invited projects on CSR from various companies and received an overwhelming response.The Project Presentations were followed by a panel discussion, which helped in inculcating new spirits in bringing a change in the society. Under the corporate category Tata Motors emerged out victorious and under the NGO Category NGO-Shivganga won the best project award.

Lakshwiz is a constellation of case study competitions conceptualized to serve the real time business problems/cases to the best brains of the country. It gives an opportunity to B-school students to showcase their talent and prove their mettle in front of the esteemed jury members from the academia and the corporate. This years edition of Lakshwiz had case presentations in 3 different modules, namely Factory - Supply Chain & Operations Management , D Street - Finance Management and Bazaar - Marketing Management.

Lakshya-2011 saw Power Talks which saw people who brought about a radical shift in the way things were carried, processes were followed and a basic change in the thoughts. Shri Prakash Iyer ignited the session with his pearls of wisdom and renewed the sense of purpose in everyones mind.

The students and the corporates have an even bigger reason to be hooked to this event next year as it promises to deliver beyond expectations.
