The Indian government in the past has tried various measures to make our nation self- sufficient in power supply but no solace is visible in the near future. As a matter of fact the promised timelines by many of today’s ongoing Ultra- Mega Power projects do not match the ever growing needs our booming economy.
In quest for excellence, the students of Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Engineering (PGDIE) at NITIE, Mumbai, organized Samiksha, a Panel Discussion, on 27th August, 2009 sponsored by M/s. Sunder Industries pvt Ltd. The theme of the discussion was “INDIA INC: WATTS STOPPING IT”. The event was graced by eminent personalities from various industries and departments. The event served as an excellent forum for the students to learn from the rich experience of the industry experts.
The experts who shared their vast experiences were: Mr. M S Rao, VP, Transmission, Reliance Energy Mrs. Chhaya Bhonslay, AGM, HR, Tata Power Mr. N S M Rao, GM, Engineering(C to C), Suzlon Energy Mr. A S Subramaniyan, CM, Marketing, Siemens Ltd

The first presentation was given by Vice President, Reliance Energy Mr. M S Rao who covered following sub-topics in his presentation

The third presentation was given by GM, Engineering(C to C), Suzlon Energy MR. NSM Rao who covered the following subtopics in his presentation

4. What are the current practices and what is needed?
5. Experience in Europe
Mr. A. S. Subramaniyan, Chief Manager, Marketing beautifully described Power Scenario through a Manufacture’s Perspective, he focused on following points in his presentation.

The presentations were followed by the panel discussion, which was moderated by Mr. T. Surendar, Associate Editor, Forbes India (Moderator) who enlivened the discussion with his judicious remarks and inquisitive attitude and created a perfect setting for a logical deliberation on such a burning topic. It was kind of a interactive session wherein queries by students were also entertained and thoroughly answered.
