BARISTA - “Sourcing and Distribution Network Planning”
Spreading the joy of coffee…Across the students. Across the college. It was a day of coffee, and the joy of it. From the one who makes it? Not the coffee, but the brand. BARISTA, one of the biggest names in India’s retail food industry. The invited guest, Mr. Sandeep Sharma, is the VP, Supply Chain Management of BARISTA. And the enthusiasm among the students could not have been more, what with the Supply Chain Management and coffee enthusiasts completely crowding the auditorium. The session started over with an insight into BARISTA as a business enterprise. The history of how it evolved - starting from a small coffee shop in Delhi to a chain of 180 coffee bars. How within a span of few years it spread across the entire county and then went global. And then the evening moved on to NITIE’s passion – Supply Chain Management and Logistics. Mr. Sharma gave the students an exhaustive knowledge about the SCM operations of Barista and its way towards the integration of inhouse and outhouse Logistics.
Alas, time runs fast!! The never ending question shoot from the students had to be stopped – but not before they had questioned the speaker about a series of topics ranging from the operational, financial to the present competition scenario of Barista. The time constraint left the students as well as Mr. Sharma craving for more. For intellegencia and coffee never fail to stimulate. And though the session was over, the experience lingered by. We all crave to have much more invigorating and stimulating sessions like this in future.

He talked about the reforms that SEBI intends to take and Regulations of Primary and Secondary markets. He discussed about SEBI’s plans to set up ‘National Institute of Securities Market’ near Mumbai. The session was an enriching experience for the students as it gave insight into the concepts of financial management. The huge turnout for the event was encouraging for the speakers as, described by Mr. Gupta, in his words “I am surprised to see the kind of enthusiasm shown by the students of NITIE in finance management”.
