NITIE Alumni Association (NAA) was founded on October, 31 in the year 1976.
Here we aim at connecting alumni, giving them a platform to interact and regroup.
Developing and maintaining a strong alumni association programme is essential for the growth and progress of an institution.
Keeping this in mind, the students alumni committee is committed to constantly come up with the upgraded versions of the website.
In order to maintain the strong network established over the years, we request all the alumnus to keep their profiles updated at all times.
Alum Talk Session by Mr. Ajit Mathur – MD, Sky Gourmet[hide]
On 17th February 2014, NITIE alumnus Dr. Ajit Mathur, MD Sky Gourmet, visited campus and delivered an insightful lecture on the topic "My journey with Sky Gourmet". It was attended by Prof Ashok Pundir (Dean Student Affairs and Placements), Prof (Ms) Sumi Jha, Prof Sanjeev Verma and Prof Rakesh Verma.
The session was about his contribution in Sky Gourmet and the experiences he gained while building,sustaining and expanding the company. He also talked about business strategies, company positioning, quality, importance of people and substantiated all of it with practical examples. He ended the session with lessons for the budding managers that they should keep in mind to achieve success in life.Students look forward to his next session tomorrow on Service Quality.
On 22nd February, 2014 MiG (Marketing Interest Group) organized Marksfete 2014, the annual Marketing fest of NITIE. The event consisted of a Panel Discussion on the topic "Social Media Marketing - Redefining the marketing mix and the conventional channels of marketing".
The dignitaries who shared their knowledge included Mr. Rajesh Chakrabarti, CMO & CIO ,Reliance Capital, Mr. Gunjan Ghai, Vice President, Marketing & e-Commerce, Tata AIG General Insurance Co., Ms.Namrata Balwani,COO, Media2Win; Mr. Kushal Sanghvi, Business Head, Reliance Entertainment, Mr. Vivek Bhargava, CEO ,iProspectCommunicate2 and Mr. Vikas Tandon, Managing Director ,Indigo Consulting, who presided over as the moderator for the panel discussion. The event also included a case-study competition, Mark-Sense and a marketing quiz, Maddiction.

NITIE Bags "Innovation in Building Academic & Industry Interface" in DNA & STARS Innovative B-School Awards! – received by Prof. Ashok K Pundir (Dean Student Affairs and Placements) at Taj Lands End.
The FMCG industry in India is going through a metamorphosis. As, companies are looking to capture new markets and starting to look towards rural India, the landscape of the FMCG industry is changing drastically. So, the panel discussion conducted by Samiksha, the Industry Interaction cell of NITIE, decided to conduct a panel discussion on the topic "FMCG industry on a rugged road to rural India." The panel discussion had eminent panelists from leading organizations.
The advent of the year 2013 has brought a special era for National Institute of Industrial Engineering popularly known as NITIE as it celebrates its Golden Jubilee and marks the completion of fifty glorious years of providing Industrial Excellence. As a part of the celebrations, the Golden Jubilee Alumni Meet - "Sansmaran" was organised on 16th of November 2013.
"Sansmaran" a Hindi word for Reminiscence, is the inspiration behind the ideology of the event which provides a platform for the alumni to reconnect with their alma mater.

To commemorate 50 years of glorious existence, on 22nd October 2013, NITIE celebrated its Golden Jubilee with great exuberance. The dignitaries were hosted by the entire NITIE fraternity led by Director, Prof (Ms) Karuna Jain and Prof. Ashok Pundir- Dean (Student Affairs and Placements). On this auspicious occasion, Mr. B. Prasada Rao, Executive Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd, inaugurated the new Hostel for students. It was followed by the laying of foundation stone for new residential building by Mr. Jahar Saha, Former Director of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad. Later, Ms. Amita Sharma, Additional Secretary, Technical Education, MHRD, inaugurated the new Academic cum Library Building. These buildings will epitomize NITIE's advent into the new era.
Prerana Business Meet 2013[show]
The Prerana Business Meet (PBM), one of flagship events at Avartan 2013, was graced by luminaries who possess a unique combination of experience and knowledge about the industry that they represent. These leaders come together for discussing a topic of burning relevance and deliver keynote addresses providing first hand insights into the issues that plague the business world.
The theme for PBM 2013 was: “The path to becoming a Developed Nation: Manufacturing or Services?”

Those who follow their vision by action are the ones who create history. NITIE felicitates “Lakshya Business Visionary Award” to those icons of the industry, who by their exemplary vision and extraordinary leadership have changed the course of the Indian economy. The nominations are suggested across industrial sectors and the awardees are selected through an electronic poll across the country.

On the Job Achievers’ Contest 2013[show]
OJAC or On the Job Achievers’ Contest, under Avartan, enlightened the students with the live projects and recent happenings in various industries.

Biz Talk 2013[show]
On 24th Oct, BizTalk, the corporate panel discussion was conducted at NITIE. The esteemed panel members were Mr. Amit Tandon, Head - Productivity, Cloud and Social business, Microsoft, Mr. Rahaju Pal, Director - Enterprise Risk Services, Deloitte, Ms. Bhooma Chutani, Principal - Enterprise Consulting, L&T Infotech. The moderator for the event was Mr. Srikanth RP, Executive Editor, Information Week India. The event was graced with the presence of Assoc. Prof. Purnima Sangle, group coordinator – IT Applications, NITIE.
The topic for the panel discussion was “Big Data Analytics in Government, Public Sector and Society in General”. The panel members gave a lot of real life examples of the usage of big data in today’s world and discussed about its present and future prospects. Overall it was a very informative session and has helped the students gain a perspective for this latest technology.
Financial Conclave 2013[show]
$treet - The Finance Forum of NITIE organized the NITIE Finance Conclave 2013 on 23rd October, 2013, under the umbrella of Avartan. NITIE Finance Conclave is an event which brings together thought leaders from the world of banking and finance on one platform to deliberate over a common theme. The central theme of the conclave was “The 18 Month Roadmap for Finance and Banking Sector”.
Green Lantern 2013[show]
On the 24th October, Green Lantern was organized for “Environmental Vision for the leaders of tomorrow”. ‘Green Lantern’ provided an opportunity to spread awareness of the varied perspectives in the field of sustainability. The consortium of delegates imparted multi-facet knowledge and help to develop a deep insight of how forums across the world are deliberating the problem with utmost seriousness, for the gravity of the situation is large. Prof. (Ms.) Karuna Jain (Director, NITIE) and Prof. Ashok Pundir - Dean (Student Affairs and Placement) graced the occasion with their presence.Chief Guest for the event was Ms. Chitkala Zutshi, an IAS(MS) batch of 1971. Currently a Member (Economy) in Maharashtra Water Resources Regulatory Authority.
What started on 7th Feb with a bang, just scaled up to kiss the zenith on 16th Feb 2014. NPL 4.0 concluded but not before providing a ten day extravaganza where every student, faculty and staff of NITIE was mesmerized by the spirit. In the finals, Punjab warriors emerged as Winners over Lucknow Nawabs.
The three day sports extravaganza ‘JOSH’ which started on 19th October has ended on a very enthusiastic note. The closing ceremony followed by the prize distribution was graced by the presence of Prof.(Ms) Karuna Jain(Director), Prof. Ashok Pundir- Dean (Student Affairs and Placements), Prof Rakesh Verma, Prof.(Ms) Anju Singh, Prof. Sanjeev Verma and Prof. Nikhil Mehta. Around 150 students from various colleges participated in it. In the Inter-college tournament, NITIE won in Cricket, Futsal and Table Tennis. In the Intra-College tournament, the overall standings were as follows: - PGDIM 20-Sec B, PGDIM 19- Sec C, PGDIE 42- Sec-B. Throughout the event, college atmosphere was resonating with sounds of hooting and cheering expressing zeal and vigour of the students.
On 20th Oct, Arohan- the three day cultural festival came to an end with great show in the presence of Prof. (Ms.) Karuna Jain(Director) and Prof. Ashok Pundir - Dean (Student Affairs and Placement). The cultural committee of NITIE, had organized an Inter-college singing and dance competition. The chief guest for the evening was Ms. Sonal Jha(Actor), she has worked extensively in theatre, films and television.
SPICMACAY Mini Virasat[show]
The NITIE chapter of SPICMACAY organized four-day celebrations (Mini Virasat) in campus comprising nationally and internationally acclaimed movie screenings, classical music and dance performances by stalwarts of the industry.
The Mini Virasat Week kicked off by paying tribute to the Father of the Nation on Gandhi Jayanti, 2nd October, with the screening of the National Award winning movie "The Making of the Mahatma”. The second day saw mesmerizing performance by Dr. Jayanthi Kumaresh, renowned Carnatic Veena player. NITIE students received a rare treat on the third day- a Koodiyattam recital by Vidushi KapilaVenu. An ancient form of art over 2000 years old, Koodiyattam is officially recognized by UNESCO as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. The Mini Virasat week came to a close with the screening of the Oscar, Golden Bear and Golden Globe Award winning movie “A Separation" on 6th October. The event was highly appreciated by one and all.

Mr. R. Chandran (Class of 1984): Recognized ASIAN CIO of the Year [hide]
Mr R. Chandran, an alumnus of NITIE (PGDIE Class of 1984) and currently leading Bahwan Cybertek as Chief Information Officer has been awarded the title of CIO of the year in Asian CIO Leadership Awards. Having professional experience spanning over 30 years, Mr. Chandran plays the key role of BCT's CIO, working towards streamlining, strengthening and formulating processes and strategies on using technologies for information availability and accessibility. Prior to joining BCT, Mr. Chandran was the CIO for Greenfield Automotive site Daimler India establishing systems for the entire manufacturing organization and Business Applications. Heartiest Congratulations to Mr Chandran for this achievement!!

...And when they all returned to their Alma Mater, the memories were refreshed and the years gone by did not matter!
How many times in one's life does one get to experience the effect of time machine without doling out a fortune for it? But some events do make it possible, at least metaphorically if not literally. The NITIE (National Institute of Industrial Engineering) Annual Alumni Meet, Sansmaran 2012, was one such event that brought back fond memories.
NITIE has crossed many milestones in its journey of academic and professional excellence and has carved a niche for itself in the galaxy of top notch institutes in the country. Every year NITIE takes a walk down the corridors of nostalgia boasting its legacy of a respondent and diversified Alumni network carrying along memories that they would cherish forever.
24th Nov 2012 was the day when they all returned to their Alma-Mater. It was Sansmaran-2012, NITIE’s Annual Alumni Meet, which brought back more than hundred alumni from across the globe to the picturesque campus of NITIE.
The annual management fest of National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), Prerana 2012 a five day symposium kicked off on 16th October. Prerana Business Meet, the flagship event of the fest, held on the second day, had members of top management from various corporate houses - Mr.Harsh Mariwala (CEO, Marico), Mr. B.Vidyanathan (MD, Future Capital), Mr. S Hazara (MD, Shipping Corporation of India) and Mr. Anshoo Gaur (Head, Amdocs India) welcomed by Director Dr. Amitabha De and Convenor Prof. A.K. Pundir, sharing the stage and deliberating on the topic of discussion, "Reviving the Indian Economy: Key Focus Areas to Sustain the Indian Growth Story".
Among others events were Tactix, 'Beat the Street', Equinox, Launchpad, Checkmate, Enflammer, Summer Project Contest, Vivaad - A War of Words, Biz-Talk, Cita De La and Decibelz.
EnVision 2012, a Carbon Neutral Event, from 18th Oct, 2012 - 19th Oct, 2012. The flagship event of PGDISEM (Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Safety and Environment Management) programme at NITIE lived up to its core value - "Environmental Vision for the leaders of tomorrow". It was a two day event that accommodated informative discussions and exciting competitions - Ecolloquium (Corporate Panel Discussion), EnGauge (Live Case Study Competition) sponsored by Indian Oil Corporation Limited , The Green Lantern (Individual Speaker Session), EnQUIZitive (Enviro Business Quiz), GreenVas (Poster Making Competition), Panorama (Photography Contest), BlogBlot (Blog Writing Contest). Mr.Sudeep Roy (GM-EHS, Philips), Parvastu Rambabu (CEO, General Carbon), Manoj Karmakar (AVP-EHS, PI Industries) were a few panelists who participated in the panel discussion this year.
As sustainability becomes a major factor for business survival, NITIE's initiative - Envision will keep on ensuring that the bright minds of today always manage environmental, safety and health issues in organizations to welcome a better tomorrow.
NITIE organized LITMUS 2012, the Annual IT Conclave from 16th Oct, 2012 - 20th Oct, 2012 with great aplomb in collaboration with Prerana. The flagship event of PGDITM programme at NITIE lived up to its core value - "Success through synergy". BizTalk, flagship panel discussion event of Litmus, facilitated collaborative learning by bringing together corporates from different organisations and providing them a platform to tackle some of the most crucial issues faced by the IT industry. The 2012 Conclave discussed the hottest trends in the IT industry viz. Cloud, Social Computing, Information and Mobility, and tried to address the imminent question: how are companies, both nationally and globally, coping with these rapid shifts in the industry.
LITMUS also incorporated an IT implementation based Case Study competition, SyncQuest in association with one of the most elite IT brands in existence today, Cognizant. In addition, this year's event portfolio for LITMUS included the IT Module of Prerana's flagship event, the Summer Project Contest, or SPC-IT, where second year MBA students fought it out for the title of the 'Best Summer Project' in the country in front of a panel of distinguished personalities from the world of business and academia.
JOSH is an inter cum intra sports event which was launched this year. JOSH was launched on 6th October 2012 by Prof. Ashok K Pundir (Dean, Student Affairs and Placement). It was a fully packaged sports extravaganza, which witnessed some outstanding performances, true sportsmanship, incessant cheering and overflowing emotions by participants and supporters. It displayed a great bonding among the students, while they were patronizing for their sections and the college. The inter-college tournament had top b-schools from mumbai participating in Futsal and Basketball. NITIE, SPJain, SJMSOM, KJSOM, JBIMS were the participating institutes. The intra-college tournament was held in Futsal, Basketball, Table Tennis, Chess and Carrom. A total of 16 teams fought for the overall champion's trophy. There were 6 teams from PGDIM, 4 teams from PGDIE, 2 team each from PGDITM/PGDISEM and 2 Fellow teams.
Truly this event proved not only bliss for finding some NITIE's talented sportspersons, but has also gone a long way in reinvigorating the interest in sports among the students.
D'Apprendre organised by Team Empresario on 26th of March 2012 was a huge success and was graced with the presence of two eminent speakers Mr. Anil Joshi , Operation Head at Mumbai Angles and Mr. Faisal Farooqui, Founder and CEO of Mouthshut.com who spoke about their journeys to realize their dreams and give a name to their trail-blazing endeavours.
It was truly a celebration of the spirit of entrepreneurship that inspired and motivated both the students and faculty members alike to journey through the "Road less travelled by".
NSC2, the NITIE Student's Consulting Club conducted a unique consulting marathon, a two day workshop-cum-event in association with ZENeSYS Consulting, at its campus in NITIE Mumbai on 18-19th Feb.
A first of its kind event, Zenith, was designed to not only equip students with various tools and strategies while handling consulting cases but also to give them a chance to actively work on a business project. The teams were given specialised training and assigned varied tasks by professionals from Zenesys, all of which were carefully crafted to build-up a consulting acumen amongst the students. The teams were also visited and addressed by dignitaries from consulting giants like Booz & Co. and Ernst & Young.
